Essay & Drawing Competition - Award Ceremony

During December 2012 the Ecoteam was conducting an essay competition at Kalavara Govt. Higher Primary School as well as one drawing and another essay competition at Haladi Govt. Higher Primary School. This previous blog entry contains further information on the issue.

After diligently examining and rating the drawings and the essays, the Ecoteam started to prepare the award ceremonies: We autonomously designed unique certificates for the winners and purchased different prizes considering all participants. In cooperation with the responsible school staff, one award ceremony was arranged at both Kalavara and Haladi school.

Since each festivity was attended by at least 120 students the Ecoteam took the chance to spread some environmental awareness by conducting the third school session.
Afterwards the award ceremony itself took place; the best students ranking first, second or third were rewarded with a personal certificate and one mango tree which is supposed to be planted at their homes. This prize requires a lot of dedication and patience of the children but it will be worth the effort since in one or two years the first homegrown mangoes are ready to be harvested. Also all the other participants received a small reward in the form of one wooden pencil and one rubber/sharpener. In the end, all the participants as well as the school staff and the Ecoteam gathered in order to take a group photo.
