Eco Clubs: Vision & Mission

Mission Statement and Vision

Increase the awareness among high school students regarding environmental issues.

Strategic Aims

1. Educational system does not have environmental educations among high school students.

• Get the environmental education in syllabus.
• Implement extra curricular activity.

2. Teachers bear an overload of work. They can’t take the responsibility to implement environmental education activities.

• Volunteers & FSL coordinators will act as guides. Empower the children to take self initiative.
• Work with the teachers as contact persons.

3. Eco clubs are non-active. Most of the Eco Club’s members & environmental activities.

• Make eco clubs active.

Goal:

To raise the students “interest” over environmental issues.

To get the students actively involved in environmental matters from their own area.

Prioritised strategic actions

1^st Year Pioneering: basic sessions will be introduced by our volunteers so that students are trained & guided to carry on some of the activities by themselves for the next year.

2^nd Year Coordinating: the students will take the initiative and work together with the volunteers. Responsibilities will be given to them. Extra sessions will be created.

3^rd Year Mentoring: they’ll advice the younger students and take actions on their own. Our volunteers will assist them.

• Yearly (5 months – 5 sessions)

- the students in their second year of environmental education will get 3 extra sessions, beside assisting the volunteers in coordinating the “new” pioneers.

- each session should have the practical part

- find methods to work with the youth: games, power point, …

• Teachers involvement

They will act as contact persons:

- gather the students.

- arrange the time and place for the sessions.

- get the interested students.

- follow ups and reports.

- getting the approval from the school board

• Follow up

• Each month (as midterm) regarding the sessions.
• Each year (as final) regarding the update of the sessions and new ones added.
• Membership (give the students a certificate, and add them as a member from the big eco club “Coastal Eco Club”)
