During the beginning of December, the Ecoteam has conducted the first sessions of the second batch. Starting with Maravanthe, all the team will re-visit every school that participated in the first Environmental Education and Eco Club sessions.
At the beginning of the session the Ecoteam summed up the major points from the first session and drew the connection to the content of the second session. Whereas the first session was supposed to spread some very basic environmental awareness, the second session dealt with several topics in detail: At first the Ecoteam emphasised the importance of recycling and explained the recycling process by taking the example of paper and plastic recycling. Moreover, we explained the functionality of a compost pit and showed the children how to build one.
This led to the practical part of the session as the students managed to build a compost pit in cooperation with the Ecoteam. This compost pit is situated in the backyard of the school and is now used for all kinds of biodegradable wastes that were used to be burned before.
