Azolla
is an aquatic floating fern, the fern appears as a green mat over
water. The Blue Green Algae cyanobacteria (Anabaena azollae ) present
as a symbiont with this fern in the lower cavities actually fixes
atmospheric nitrogen. As green manure, Azolla is grown in two to
three weeks in flooded fields. This way cattle can benefited from
Azolla which is rich in protein and therefore good as fodder for
cows, it offers a lot of minerals. That is the reason, why it
increased the quality and the amount of cow milk and fat.
With
this regards we visited Mrs. Sunandha, she is residence of Koni, she
already practicing Azolla plants growing. She shared with us some
good information about Azolla. Also we took some Azolla species from
her home to Marventhe.

members, we went to Mr. Shakar, Kere mane house. We dig 4 feet length
and 2 half depth pit. After we cover with Plastic. Made good
boundaries, finally put the water, mixed with water little cow dung
for the growth of Azolla, little red soil and finally we spread the
Azolla species into the pit. Same way we did another Azolla
demonstration plot in Mrs Nagarathna’s house too. We inform how to
care about Azolla plot and methodology of caring and using of Alloza
